​The new library is conceived as a porous container hovering over an articulated and animated landscape. This strategy maximises the available public space, makes access and easy and natural from any direction, enhances the presence of the library as a public building and sub divides the building in a sensible  and functional manner. 

The Deagu Public Library will be a new focus for community with the form of the building placing importance on the role of public space in the life of the community. The majority of the program (the main library functions) is elevated above ground to avail of views and light and is enveloped in a perforated metal screen that moderates solar gain and evokes a lantern at night.
