The visitor ascends a series of granite steps to enter a walled garden enclosed by 2m high granite wall on the south-east and a shear rock face to the north-west.

 

The building takes the form of a folded plane that is manipulated to respond to the site constraints and to the levels dictated by the existing house, folding and distorting as required. In-fill between the folded plane is a combination of glass and solid panels coloured and detailed to maintain the reading of the white plane.
