The brief required a contemporary house with strong natural light, connected to the exterior while maintaining privacy within the site. The owner is an author and required a study and library space both to be located at first floor.
The concept evolved into an introverted form suspended over the site. The form is manipulated, extruded downwards to house the stairs and utility spaces, upwards to form water tanks and outwards to form bay windows. Externally the ground plane is of cut stone inset with white terrazzo internally, taking up changes in level across the site.
