Slotted into the tight grain of Dublin’s historic city centre this project is a mixed-use development of social housing and community faciliries.
The buildings brick is used in sympathy with the materiality of the adjoining buildings, indicating the residential uses in stark contrast to the civic glass and stone of the Dublin City Council offices opposite.
The concept for the building is to drape the accommodation with a skin of brick. Rather than adopt the ubiquirous setback floor the skin is angled to reduce the visual impact of the building on the street. The angle is determined to eliminate the view of the angled surface from the footpath opposte the site.
