Slotted into the tight grain of Dublin’s historic city centre this project is a mixed-use development of social housing and Retail/Commercial/Cafe. The clients brief was to complete the block, to enclose the courtyard thereby ensuring the privacy of the tenants and to provide as much social housing as possible.

 

The concept for the building is to enclose and unify the accommodation between existing party walls by wrapping the floors of accommodation in brick sheath 

 

The fenestration with a strong vertical emphasis and heavily articulated reveals, is inspired by the great Georgian buildings of the immediate context adapted to unifying balconies and windows into the form.
